Nassuby Bernal started his journey in the food industry in Venezuela, 31 years ago, as a server to finish paying for his education. Nassuby finished college with two culinary degrees, one with the University of Los Andes in Culinary Arts and the other from the University of Tecnologico Monterrey in Culinary Arts. He started as a server in Rodriguez Catering Service and then he later became a dishwasher and cleaner for the biggest catering hall in Venezuela, Festejos Toldeca. There he met his biggest mentor and inspiration, Antonio Mendoza. Antonio encouraged him to follow his path in the kitchen where he oversaw cold buffet. Antonio was a mentor who taught him the ethics, the principles and the love for the kitchen, always giving 110% in everything thing he did.
In 1997 he met the love of his life and biggest supporter, Lori Bernal. Lori is a longtime RN nurse and has owned her fair share of successful businesses, such as ‘Tavormina Bakery’ in New York. She has been a major contributor in Nassuby’s continuingly growing love for the industry. Then in 2009, ‘Hire A Chef for A Nite’ was born, an extraordinary catering service launched out of Long Island New York. The excitement and success of this unique service slowly caused a new idea to begin brewing in their dedicated hearts; a restaurant encompassing all of their passion for food. They then moved to paradise, Islamorada Florida in the Florida Keys! This led to the launch of the team’s new baby, Just The Thing Global Bistro! A unique personalized restaurant, created solely for the purpose of delivering great service, amazing drinks, exotic cuisine, and above all, A LOT OF FUN!
